Indy! The Musical, A Hoosier Fantasy, is a musical comedy in two acts set during the four-week period of the Indianapolis 500 race in a time not long after the Second World War. It is a love story in which three couples search for a home and an identity: an older couple, the Mayor and Aunt Ida; Sarah, a dance teacher, and Dan, a drifter from out of town; and the farmer Ike and Annie, a waitress looking for a better life. All performances of Indy! The Musical is for the benefit of WFYI, the public radio station of Indianapolis.
Violet follows a scarred young woman who embarks on a cross-country bus trip to be healed by a TV evangelist. With a score from Tony-winning composer Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Shrek; Fun Home) and book and lyrics by the acclaimed Brian Crawley (A Little Princess), this award-winning musical will take your breath away. Presented by Eclipse, the Emerging Artists program of Summer Stock Stage (SSS), this production will showcase SSS alumni. All performances at Phoenix Theatre Russell Stage. “Dying with Dignity,” April 30th — Diane Kondrat, professional actor and former executive director of InterAction Theater, Inc., leads an engaging night of theatre exploring end-of-life issues. The Phoenix hosts this night in conjunction with our production of The Children, which runs through May 19.
