The Start Of Our Next Chapter - A Message from Artistic Director Constance Macy

We have a lot to be excited about at the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre. This fall, the Phoenix kicks off its 40th season in Indianapolis. And just a few weeks ago Naptown African American Theatre Collective – Indy's newest professional theatre – announced it will be one of seven resident companies performing at the Cultural Centre.

Today was another big moment. We announced that William Powell will be our interim CEO effective Monday, supporting our vision to use the Cultural Centre to regularly stage compelling theatre, dance, and critical community conversations for people living in Central Indiana. He’s also going to help with our national search for a permanent CEO. You can read more in our press release.

William is a great choice to lead us through the next chapter of our history. He’s a long-time arts management consultant here in Indianapolis and in Columbus, Ohio, and he’s also a business leader. William has a good understanding of the arts environment and will help ensure we achieve our goal of making your visit to the Cultural Centre pleasant, entertaining, and inviting – regardless of which collective you are coming to see.

I personally can’t wait to get started, and I can’t wait to see you at the Cultural Centre.

- Constance
